The national cycling finals for the The 2016 Department of Defense Warrior Games will be held at the US Military Academy at West Point, NY. The event includes athletes with using handcycles, kneelers, recumbent cycles, upright cycles, and tandems.
The Warrior Games will feature eight sporting events with approximately 200 athletes representing teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, U.S. Special Operations Command and British Armed Forces. Adaptive sports and athletic reconditioning activities play a fundamental role in the recovery, rehabilitation and reintegration of our service members. The events of the 2016 Department of Defense Warrior Games embody the spirit of the U.S. and British Armed Forces, and celebrate the triumphs, personal courage and of our wounded, ill and injured service members.
For the cycling competition there are variety of divisions based on disability classification and type of equipment. All races take place on a spectator-friendly 5K course. Depending on the division, the race will include 2, 4, or 6 laps.
